What does it mean that you’re a member of Chinese Medicine Council of NZ (CMCNZ)?
As a registered member of the Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand (CMCNZ), I adhere to rigorous standards of clinical competence, cultural safety, and ethical conduct as mandated by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003.
What does it mean that you’re a member of Acupuncture New Zealand (AcNZ)?
As a member of Acupuncture New Zealand (AcNZ), I am committed to the highest standards of clinical practice in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Being a part of AcNZ ensures that you are in the hands of a competent and qualified health practitioner. All practising members of AcNZ are regulated health practitioners, registered with the Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand (CMCNZ), hold a current Annual Practising Certificate, and are recognized as ACC treatment providers.
AcNZ is also a member of Allied Health Aotearoa New Zealand (AHANZ), the World Federation on Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), and the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS). AcNZ has strong affiliations with acupuncture associations in Australia, China, the USA, Britain, and throughout Europe.
How does ACC coverage work for acupuncture sessions?
Under ACC, patients are eligible for up to 12 acupuncture sessions over 12 weeks within a year from the date of injury. Please note that acupuncturists are not able to lodge the initial claim, as we primarily use Chinese medicine diagnostic tools. Once a claim is approved by ACC, they will subsidize the costs of the acupuncture treatment.
What measures are in place to ensure safety?
Patient safety is my top priority. I exclusively use single-use disposable needles to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination. Additionally, as a member of CMCNZ, I adhere to the highest standards of hygiene & patient care. My practice is continuously updated to reflect the latest safety guidelines and best practices in acupuncture.
Do your sessions include advice on lifestyle and diet?
Yes, absolutely. These factors are crucial in facilitating meaningful changes in a patient’s health. Chinese medicine, as a holistic therapy, recognizes that environmental, dietary, and lifestyle factors significantly impact the body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, it is essential to educate patients about how these elements influence their overall health and contribute to their well-being.
What do you treat?
With over 15 years of experience as an ACC provider, I have treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions resulting from injuries. My practice also addresses chronic degenerative diseases and mental health conditions. I approach each person with a genuine curiosity about their unique experiences and seek to understand their individual needs. By the time patients consider acupuncture, they often have explored numerous other treatments and are seeking alternatives. I use the diagnostic tools of Chinese medicine to offer thoughtful and personalised care, and I am committed to empowering my patients through the principle of Rangatiratanga, supporting their autonomy and self-determination in their healing journey.
